First Year Advice – Disclaimer:
By completing a booking request, you agree to the following terms and conditions. This agreement outlines the responsibilities and expectations between the student and the First Year Advisor at the Country Universities Centre Western Riverina (Centre).
The following are agreed-upon responsibilities that the Centre will carry out to support success:
- While Country Universities Centre FYA program aims to support students with transition to academic study, the FYA takes no responsibility for performance in assessment tasks.
- The FYA will provide transition support in “sessions”. One session equals 45 minutes for students registered with the Country Universities Centre.
- The FYA is available for support with transitioning to study for first-year students including navigating your portal, time management, study hints and tips, and explanation of the CUC Academic Advice program.
- The FYA will not provide content/subject-specific support.
Students agree to:
- Be required to supply detail about the nature of support needed, and any materials that will assist the FYA in preparation for your session 48 hours before your booked time.
- Be required to attend your session on the date and time agreed with the FYA, noting that each session can be changed if both parties agree.
- Accept that each session is limited to 45 minutes; subsequent sessions may be booked. Maximum of 3 FYA sessions.
- Accept that the FYA will record the date, time, subject, and advice provided for each session. This information may be shared with other CUC staff to support you in future sessions. All information disclosed in your session will be treated in accordance with the (specific Centre privacy collection policy).
- Accept that feedback is essential to monitoring the success of the support provided, and at times you may be asked to give an unidentified evaluation.
- Accept that the FYA may refer students to other academic support providers through university or independent providers. Any affiliated agreement with Country Universities Centre will not determine preferred providers.
Academic Advice – Disclaimer:
By completing a booking request, you agree to the following terms and conditions. This agreement outlines the responsibilities and expectations between the student and the Academic Advisor at the Centre.
The following are agreed-upon responsibilities that the Centre will carry out to support student success:
- All information provided in Academic Advice sessions is of a general nature and should not replace instructions or advice provided by your university.
- The Centre does not take responsibility for performance in assessment tasks.
- Academic Advice sessions are intended to support students with study strategies, time management, and navigating university systems. These sessions do not include subject-specific tutoring or direct assistance with assignments.
- Where appropriate, students may be referred to academic support services offered by their university or independent providers. Any such referral is neutral and does not imply endorsement.
Students agree to:
- Students should always follow the specific guidelines, structures, and assessment requirements provided by their university or course coordinators.
- If you are unsure about any aspect of your assignments or course requirements, it is your responsibility to confirm details with your lecturer, tutor, or your university’s academic support team.
- Submit details of the support required, including any relevant materials, at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled session.
- Attend the session at the agreed date and time. Rescheduling is permitted where both parties agree.
- Acknowledge that CUC will record the date, time, and nature of general advice provided. This information may be shared internally to enhance ongoing support.
- Accept that any information disclosed in sessions will be handled in accordance with CUC’s privacy policy.
- You may be asked to provide anonymous feedback to help monitor and improve support services.
