Why did you choose your field of study?

I chose to pursue teaching because it has something that I’ve always wanted to do. I am passionate about ensuring that students receive the best possible experience that I can offer them. It is also very rewarding knowing that one day I will be able to create a safe space for all students to learn, grow, be themselves and find themselves. Knowing that I get to be on that journey with them is truly gratifying.

Why did you register with CUC Western Riverina?

I registered with CUC Western Riverina when I was moving home from face to face university to study online. Knowing that I could move home to study online and still have my learning supported without having to be at university in person made me feel more secure in doing so. It seemed quite daunting at first switching to online study but I knew that the CUC would be able to support me through my studies. Having access to the CUC means not only having access to beautiful study spaces, exam rooms and academic support but it also means being part of a supportive learning community.

How do you plan to apply your knowledge and skills after graduation?

I am looking forward to being able to work in a local school after graduation. I would love to provide incoming students with the best educational experience that I can offer and hope to inspire some students in the same way that I was.

Share with us some of your proudest moments as a student.

My proudest moment as a student would have to be having my grades improve while learning how to adjust to balancing my time between full time study, working, spending time with family and friends while also taking time for myself. It is definitely a challenge at times but very rewarding when hard work and discipline pays off

What advice would you give to other regional and rural people who are considering higher education?

To anyone from regional and rural areas looking to pursue higher education, I would say go for it! Thanks to the Centre, there is so much support for regional and rural students that want to study but don’t want to/are not able to relocate. It doesn’t matter how you get there or what your path looks like, no two people will have the exact same study experience so make it your own. Don’t get too swept up in what you think you should be doing and enjoy being in the process of becoming.
