After completing Year 12 in 2019, Charlotte chose to pursue a Bachelor of Criminology at Latrobe University. Originally an on-campus student, she had to shift to online learning due to COVID-19. This presented various challenges, including new methods of communication with lecturers, and a steep learning curve regarding new academic standards and digital platforms.

Despite these hurdles, Charlotte developed essential time management skills, especially vital in a university context where falling behind can have significant consequences. Her second year brought a brief return to on-campus learning, which was swiftly interrupted by strict lockdowns in Victoria. Although isolation became a prevalent theme as roommates departed, this solitude also provided a conducive environment for focused study, ensuring her academic progression remained on track.

In her third year, Charlotte relocated to Griffith joining CUC Western Riverina, a decision that supported her academic performance, particularly in the final semester. Charlotte found the combination of a quiet study environment, accessible academic skills support, and Centre perks like free coffee, created an amazing university experience – at home.

Juggling part-time work with full-time study, Charlotte navigated through the complexities of managing academic responsibilities, work commitments, and group projects, which often required careful coordination amidst varied schedules. Though occasionally frustrating, her perseverance and collaborative efforts paid off as she graduated and moved straight into a job in the public sector.

Charlotte made the big decision to move to Moree where she is a Probation and Parole Officer, she has also continued to build her skills studying a Certificate IV in Correctional Practice.
