Why did you choose your degree and what did you enjoy most about it?

I chose to study marketing and media because I’ve always had a passion for the creative industry. I love seeing how brands connect with their audiences to build a story. My degree has been a perfect way to channel my creative passions into practical skills for my career.

How important was having the CUC in your local town, and why?

Having the CUC was important because it helped my education even before I started university. I spent my entire HSC period studying at the CUC, so it became a space where I knew I could focus and feel comfortable. Even after relocating to Melbourne for university, whenever I’m back in Griffith with an online exam or study to do, I know I can book a room at the CUC and have a quiet, reliable space. That consistency and support has made a huge difference.

Where are you working now, and what do you like about it? Is your career path what you originally intended?

I’m working as a Marketing Assistant at Pilgrim Clothing, and I really love it. When I moved to Melbourne in 2024, one of my main goals was to build a career in fashion marketing, so being where I am now feels really rewarding.

What advice would you give to other regional and rural people considering higher education?

Go for it, and don’t let living regionally make you feel like your goals are too difficult. Take advantage of the support and opportunities available to you, especially places like the CUC, because they can make such a difference. Grab every chance you can to gain experience. My career path is what I originally wanted, but it didn’t happen quickly. Coming from a regional town doesn’t limit what you can achieve. Use the support around you, and don’t be afraid to work towards the career you really want.
